Camp Southern Ground

Solar Photovoltaic Array

The first 500 kW phase of the 1-Megawatt solar photovoltaic array provides a 100% clean, renewable energy source to power all existing campus facilities. The solar array is designed to accommodate Camp Southern Ground’s additional power needs as the campus grows and is set up for net-metering which will allow for any excess power generated to be sold back to the local power utility to further help offset energy expenses of the Camp. In addition to providing long-term energy savings, the solar array will help reduce air pollution, water usage, and reliance on natural gas associated with the production of power grid electricity. There are 1,700 individual solar panels installed over 2.5 acres.
The mission of Camp Southern Ground is to provide extraordinary experiences for individuals to recognize and magnify the unique gifts within themselves and others to profoundly impact the world.

Camp Southern Ground stretches across more than 400 acres of land in Fayetteville, Georgia, about 30 miles south of Atlanta. During summer months, Camp Southern Ground host kids ages 7-17 for week-long, inclusive, residential camps, bringing together typically developing children, children with neurodevelopmental differences, underserved kids, and kids from military families.

The rest of the year is dedicated to supporting post-9/11 veterans with two programs. Warrior Week, Camp Southern Ground’s signature workforce and wellness transition program, helps veterans in the transition to civilian life after military service. Warrior PATHH (Progressive Alternative Training for Healing Heroes) aims to facilitate post-traumatic growth among combat veterans struggling with PTSD and/or combat stress. Provided at no cost to veterans, Camp Southern Ground welcomes Warriors from across the country.
