Bob Mills

President of UDS Development Services

As President of UDS Development Services, Bob Mills is responsible for all corporate activities. A pragmatic leader and a third generation construction professional, Bob brings 30 years of hands-on construction and development experience to every project. From his start in the industry as a field laborer, to his role as a Project Superintendent in New York City, to his current responsibilities as a Company Principal, Bob has obtained the invaluable “real world” problem-solving perspective that he brings to all facets of his duties.

Having graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Building Construction degree in 1987, Bob worked for Morse Diesel International in New York City as a Project Superintendent on numerous large “fast-track” projects. During the 5 years that Bob worked in this highly competitive and dynamic environment he gained considerable experience in managing complex building systems, logistical challenges, union labor relations and zero-delay scheduling techniques.

Seeking to participate in the construction effort required for the 1996 Olympic Games, Bob relocated to Atlanta in 1992 and joined Beers Construction Company (now Skanska). After numerous project successes, Bob was promoted to Group Vice President of the Education Group and was responsible for managing all aspects of this business unit.

In 2002, Bob entered the student housing development market when he joined University Housing Services, Inc. as Executive Vice President. He established UHS’ corporate presence in the Atlanta market and was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer. Bob significantly enhanced the UHS brand and reputation while expanding the corporation’s national market share and was personally responsible for the planning and development of over 17,500 student-housing beds during his tenure at UHS.

In 2010, Bob founded UDS Development Services to focus on providing a highly integrated third-party project management delivery model to his corporate and non-profit clients. Since 2010, UDS Development Services has been selected to provide these services to many of the highest profile projects in the greater Atlanta market and has been recognized by its clients for repeat engagements on other projects.

Bob is personally involved in all aspects of each project, from underwriting analysis and project financing to owner occupancy. He understands the intricate realities of managing the complex interactions of contractors and design professionals with the end-user and he has extensive experience improving upon both the cost and schedule goals of owners.
