Kam Memar Lower School

Conceived by tvs design and award-winning residential designer William T. Baker, the four-story, 36,500-square-foot Kam Memar Lower School will open in the Fall of 2021. The facility will replace the Randall House—the Lower School administration building constructed as a home in 1941—and will adjoin the existing classroom building.

The Kam Memar Lower School will accommodate Pace Academy’s growing program and curriculum needs, while ensuring safety, security and accessibility. Science, STEAM and design classes will find their homes in state-of-the-art Makerspaces, while an expanded Academic Resource Center will provide individualized support for all students. Music and strings programs will enjoy large, soundproof spaces with accessible storage. The indoor gymnasium with direct access to the, “World’s Greatest Playground,” will accommodate PE classes and community events and shelter energetic youngsters during rainy-day recess.

The existing building will be renovated to include the addition of a full commercial kitchen and will incorporate modern updates to the media center and other common areas.

Pace Academy was founded in Atlanta 1958 by an interfaith group of local community leaders. They envisioned a community open to fresh ideas and debate in the great liberal arts tradition. The school was incorporated on June 30, 1958, with an initial enrollment of 178 students, for the purpose of “training and educating children and operating a school and kindergarten.” Pace Academy is situated on 37 acres in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood. The school’s landmark building, the Castle, was constructed as a private residence in 1932 for the Ogden family.
